The U.S.–China Youth Health Dialogue, held in China in April, brought together approximately 70 medical students, young physicians, and healthcare professionals from the United States for a week of professional exchange with Chinese counterparts.
Supported by the Arsenault Family Foundation China Office (AFF China) and hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the program took place in Shanghai and Changsha. In addition to substantive exchanges between the Chinese and U.S. counterparts in both cities, participants also visited local hospitals, where they learned about clinical practices and observed healthcare delivery in local medical settings. The exchanges and dialogue offered an opportunity for participants to exchange views on cutting-edge medical research, particularly the application of artificial intelligence in clinical diagnosis and treatment, clinical practice, and healthcare workforce development.
The Shanghai session opened with remarks by Mr. Shen Xin, Vice President of CPAFFC; Mr. Chen Jing, President of the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Dr. Ming Zhongqiang, Chief Representative of AFF China; and Mr. Chibueze Agwu, a medical student at the Pritzker School of Medicine, the University of Chicago. During the Changsha session, Mr. Shen Xiaoming, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, delivered remarks and exchanged with the U.S youth delegation. By fostering people-to-people exchanges in the health sector, the program contributed to broader efforts to promote cooperation between the United States and China.
