PAX sapiens’ operating philosophy is based on the belief that philanthropy can operate as a neutral partner in the development of solutions to complex and contested problems. Through empirical research and convenings, we work to promote effective solutions. Our approach to coordination is rooted in the following basic principles:
Strategy
- Coordination should be able to identify a shared goal narrow enough for all participants to commit to it. The scope should be developed iteratively and with buy-in from participants.
- Coordination should allow for differing institutional approaches, languages, and incentives. It should not expect participants to universally sign up for a shared strategy or approach.
- Coordination systems should function as a network. The plan for follow-up to individual convening should prioritize participant flexibility and independent decision-making. The follow-up plan should not be based on a formal, enforceable shared plan.
