A conversation About the Birth of the Atomic Age and the Moral Choices We Still Face Today

Broomfield, July 17, 2023. As moviegoers around the world flock to see Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece, Oppenheimer, the film tells the story of the birth of the atomic age and the father of the atomic bomb, we will look into the man who wrestled with the profound implications of bringing these weapons into the world, for lessons as we move forward.

J. Robert Oppenheimer’s moral choice may well be our moral choice.

“The people of the future cannot voice their opposition to us condemning them to a nuclear fate. It is our children that are the future franchise and it is imperative that we make choices today that benefit them tomorrow,” says PAX sapiens founder Marcel Arsenault “That was the moral challenge that faced Oppenheimer in 1945, and this is the moral challenge that we face today.”

PAX sapiens, Open Nuclear Network(ONN), Ploughshares Fund, hereby invite philanthropists, non-proliferation organizations, research institutes, government entities and community members to participate in a private screening event of the film Oppenheimer on July 19th, 2023 at 5pm at Tattered Cover Book Store & Café Colfax and Sie FilmCenter.

Because the world continues to grapple with the impacts of the decisions made 78 years ago, accompanying the film will be a panel discussion exploring the history of harm imposed by nuclear weapons, the policies that drive their purpose, and the implications of their existence.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Kristen Iversen, Award-winning Author, with feathered speakers Luke Danielson, President of Sustainable Development Strategies Group and Dr. Emma Belcher, President of Ploughshares Fund.
