PAX sapiens and the Pandemic Action Network commissioned a poll of 2000 American adults on their opinions about federal funding for pandemic prevention. This poll shows that Americans are worried about the risk of future pandemics and want to see the federal government invest in stronger system for pandemic prevention.

The convening should allow for differing institutional approaches, languages, and incentives.  It should not expect participants to all sign up to a universally shared strategy or approach.

Networks rather than hierarchies: The plan for followup to individual convenings should be based on using information to maximize participant flexibility to make their own decisions.  It should not be based on a formal and enforceable shared plan.
